Born amidst a musical boom in New Orleans, Johnny St. Cyr depended on the plethora of musical diversity around him to develop a refined sound on stringed-instruments, playing early-jazz music & roots blues guitar. His playing can be heard as a usually rhythm instrument on the early recordings of Louis Armstrong & Jelly Roll Morton.
